St James Dwelling

Rehabilitation of St. James Dwellings, including the part demolition & reconstruction of a new fourth floor at roof level and part demolition & reconstruction of 8 Ingestre Place to provide 18 elderly persons flats and self contained warden flat.

8 Ingestre Place is an early Victorian house next door to late Victorian St. James Dwellings.

The two buildings were linked to linked to provide 19 sheltered accommodation flats with a warden’s office on the ground floor of No.8. Additional mansard floor and lift added.

The basement forms the communal dining and recreational facilities.

New glazed skin added to enclose the original open access balconies.

Project completed 1989.
