Refurbishment of six storey tenement buildings and construction of seven new staircase towers and installation of new lifts to serve 79 flats for London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

A Complete refurbishment of a Grade II listed Victorian tenement block for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Ujima Housing Association.

The Scheme, produced in association with English Heritage, restored the main Columbia Road elevation to its former glory and swept away the asbestos clad access ways and refuse chutes predominant on the rear.

All flats were fully insulated, sound proofed and centrally heated. A new means of access to each flat was provided at the rear of the building via towers housing lifts, stairs, refuse chutes and public utility services.

To compliment the refurbished building a concierge with CCTV facilities covering both Leopold Buildings and the adjacent 1960’s estate was built within the confines of fully landscaped communal gardens and car park.
