The project consisted of refurbishment of four, 4 storey blocks consisting of 120 flats and 19 two storey houses. It also included the new build of 10 three-storey houses including all associated external landscaping to provide the estate with communal gardens, ball court, equipped play area and service roads.
A rolling programme of refurbishment and new development has significantly improved the 160 existing post-war homes on the Haggerston Estate in East London and provided for 10 new homes.
In 1997 a community-led option appraisal and masterplanning work proved crucial in obtaining the tenants vote to the transfer ownership of the Estate to Canalside Housing Partnership, under the London Borough of Hackney’s ERCF stock transfer programme.
